A new official trailer for Luca Guadagnino‘s latest movie, Queer, is here. Queer is the story of William Lee, an American expat in his late forties, who leads a solitary life amidst a small American community in 1950s Mexico City. The arrival of a young student stirs William into finally establishing a meaningful connection with someone. The screenplay was written by Justin Kuritzkes and is based on the 1985 novella from William S. Burroughs.
This is Luca Guadagnino‘s first collaboration with leading star Daniel Craig. Many have commented that this may be among Craig’s best performances and could land him that elusive first Oscar award. The movie also stars Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, and Jason Schwartzman.
Queer marks the second collaboration between Justin Kuritzkes and Luca Guadagnino, following their successful, uber-rich text from earlier this year in Challengers (one of best films of 2024). Kuritzkes also served as an executive producer for the film.
A24 acquired the U.S. distribution rights for Queer. A24 asked Guadagnino to trim the original cut of Queer down from its 200 minute runtime. The theatrical version is slated to sit around 135 minutes. Queer is expected in theaters on November 27, 2024 in a limited release.
This will mark one of the final releases of 2024 after a busy calendar year for A24. Among their other releases are Love Lies Bleeding, Civil War, I Saw the TV Glow, Sing Sing, A Different Man, The Brutalist, Babygirl, and We Live in Time. Talk about a stacked collection of movies.
