A new trailer for A Real Pain has been released. This is the sophomore directorial movie from Jesse Eisenberg, and it stars himself alongside Kieran Culkin. The film is scheduled to release in theaters November 1 from Searchlight.
The synopsis of A Real Pain reads that mismatched cousins David (Eisenberg) and Benji (Culkin) reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when the pair’s old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.
This is Jesse Eisenberg’s second feature film as a director, after When You Finish Saving the World, which released in 2022 via A24. Both films made their debuts at the Sundance Film Festival for their respective year. When You Finish Saving the World was met to mixed reviews critically, while A Real Pain has seemingly been received more positively.
I’m in the bag for just about anything that Eisenberg and Culkin are in, so the fact that the two are co-starring makes this a must-see for me. I’m expecting a similar offbeat tone and style to that of When You Finish Saving the World, which I did find amusing and interesting.
