This newly remastered IMAX version was created directly from a 4K restoration overseen by Studio Ghibli’s Atsushi Okui, a key figure at the studio since 1993. The film, an original story written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Toshio Suzuki, features a breathtaking hand-drawn animation style and an unforgettable score from longtime collaborator Joe Hisaishi.

Set in a world of gods, spirits, and warring factions, Princess Mononoke follows Ashitaka, a young warrior cursed with a deadly affliction who journeys west in search of a cure. Along the way, he becomes entangled in a fierce battle between Lady Eboshi and the people of Iron Town, who seek to expand their industrial society, and Princess Mononoke, a fierce warrior raised by wolves, who fights to protect the sacred forest and its mystical guardians.

The English-language voice cast for Princess Mononoke includes Gillian Anderson, Billy Crudup, Claire Danes, Minnie Driver, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Billy Bob Thornton.

As one of Miyazaki’s defining works—alongside classics like Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, The Wind Rises, and The Boy and the Heron—this IMAX release offers fans a chance to experience Princess Mononoke on the biggest screen possible, with enhanced visuals and sound that’ll surely bring its breathtaking animation and epic storytelling to life like never before.
