Maestro Trailer Released

Maestro movie trailer
Maestro, Bradley Cooper

Maestro, Bradley Cooper’s sophomore movie as a director, has its first teaser trailer.

Maestro is a biopic on the life of Leonard Bernstein. It will chronicle the decades-long career of the American conductor, as well as his relationship with his wife Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan). Bradley Cooper will star as Bernstein.

This is Cooper’s second outing as a director, following up his breakthrough debut A Star is Born in 2018. There is a lot of anticipation for this film despite what has seemed like a rather troublesome post-production marred by several postponements and delays. The movie was initially set to release in 2022 before being re-edited multiple times after test screenings.

Despite a heavy dosage of black and white in the trailer, only the first section is presumed to be in this format. The rest of Maestro will be in color. There seems to be quite an emphasis on production design, costumes, and makeup for the movie as well. Cooper’s gradual aging as Leonard Bernstein looks phenomenal, and I can’t wait to see it play it over the course of the movie.

Maestro will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September. The runtime for the movie is clocked at 129 minutes, bringing it in about 7 minutes shorter than A Star is Born. The movie is sure to be a heavy Oscars contender if it fares well among critics and audiences. Only time will tell on that front.

Along with Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan, the movie also stars Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, and Sam Nivola.

Maestro will have a limited theatrical release in November before premiering on Netflix in December. In the meantime, you can read more about Bradley Cooper and his films here.
