What Is ‘Bring Her Back’ About?

Directed by Aussie siblings Danny and Michael Philippou (creators of Talk to Me), Bring Her Back is a chilling supernatural horror/thriller exploring grief, identity, and ritualistic terror. The story opens with Andy (Billy Barratt), a 17‑year‑old, and his visually impaired half‑sister Piper (Sora Wong) becoming orphans after their father’s death. Awaiting legal custody eligibility, they’re placed in the care of Laura (Sally Hawkins), a former counselor grieving her own daughter. Living in Laura’s remote Adelaide home, they meet her mute foster child Oliver and soon discover that Laura’s intentions are anything but maternal. Sinister VHS tapes, occult symbolism, and horrifying body‑horror converge as the siblings uncover a life‑hopping ritual tied to a malevolent cult — all aiming to bring her back.
