The first trailer for Bring Her Back, the latest horror film from Michael and Danny Philippou, has arrived. This marks the Philippou brothers’ first project since their breakout hit Talk to Me, which was released in 2023 and quickly became A24’s highest-grossing horror film, earning $91.9 million worldwide. Now, A24 is looking to build on that momentum with Bring Her Back, which promises an even bigger budget, a grander concept, and a fresh dose of terror.
The official synopsis for Bring Her Back reads: A brother and sister witness a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.
The film stars Sally Hawkins and Billy Barratt and was co-written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, the same duo that co-wrote Talk to Me. While Talk to Me was met with widespread acclaim for its intricate set pieces and chilling portrayal of youth culture, its exploration of grief—a recurring theme in modern horror—was a point of frustration for me. That said, the Philippou brothers have already proven their ability to craft visceral, inventive horror, making Bring Her Back one of the most anticipated genre films of 2025.
The filmmakers are also reportedly developing a sequel to Talk to Me, appropriately titled Talk 2 Me. In the meantime, Bring Her Back is set for release in Australia on May 29, 2025, before arriving in the United States on May 30, 2025.
