Eli Brau is the chief film critic and founder of Cinephile Corner. Based in Minneapolis, he is responsible for writing many of the site’s movie reviews, as well as publishing and managing its busy schedule.
He launched Cinephile Corner in 2021 while in college and has written nearly 300 movie reviews for the website since then. His job includes writing about the next big blockbuster release, discovering the next international hit, and attending many of the local film festivals, either in-person or virtually.
Prior to writing for Cinephile Corner, Eli attended Minnesota State University, Mankato. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a minor in film studies. He has previously attended the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival and Twin Cities Film Fest, as well as the Sundance Film Festival virtually.
He is a member of the Minnesota Film Critics Alliance and votes annually for their year-end awards. His favorite movies include many recent critical darlings like The Social Network and Inside Llewyn Davis, as well as decades old classics like The Shining and Blow Out. When he is not writing and talking about film, he is spending time with his longtime partner Kaylee and visiting craft breweries.
